The Repairs Kennesaw Roofs Need Most
Wind causes more of our Kennesaw repair calls than anything else. Storms that come in from the northwest pick up speed and turn gusty as they wrap around Kennesaw Mountain, and the parts of a roof that take the brunt are the ridge caps, the hip shingles, and the edges along the rakes. After a blow, we often find a line of shingles creased at the seal strip, a few missing entirely, or a ridge vent pried loose at one end.
The second most common problem is debris. Homes near the battlefield sit under old oaks that drop limbs and leaves, and that debris packs into valleys and gutters until water backs up under the shingle edges. Clearing the valley, replacing the damaged shingles, and checking the flashing below usually settles it.
Sun wear shows up on the open lots as well. South- and west-facing slopes on homes from the 1990s and 2000s build-out often have cracked pipe boots and dried-out sealant around vents well before the shingles themselves fail. We replace those boots with longer-lasting metal or silicone-collar versions and reseal the penetrations.
Finding the Leak and Reading Hail Damage
Water seldom comes through the ceiling directly below the spot where it got in. It runs along rafters and decking seams first, so we start with the stain inside, map it to the roof plane above, and then check every vent, valley, and flashing detail that drains toward it. When a leak will not show itself, we run a controlled water test one section at a time while a second technician watches from the attic. On homes with vaulted ceilings or finished bonus rooms, where the underside of the deck is hidden, the exterior inspection and the water test carry more of the work.
Hail needs a closer eye. A shingle can look intact from the driveway and still have bruised spots where the granules were knocked loose, which leaves the asphalt beneath exposed to the sun. After storms cross Legacy Park or Brookstone, we mark each impact, separate true hail hits from blistering and foot scuffs, and photograph everything so you and your insurer see the same evidence.
Repair or Replace on a 1990s and 2000s Kennesaw Home
Many Kennesaw roofs are now in the range where the answer is no longer obvious. If the roof is under about fifteen years old, the damage is limited to one slope or a few penetrations, and the decking is solid, a repair is almost always the smarter spend. Kennesaw’s older subdivisions complicate that, because many original roofs are past twenty years and some builder-grade shingle colors are hard to match cleanly.
When granule loss has spread across several slopes or earlier repairs keep failing, patching usually buys less time with each visit. We will lay out what we found and explain which way the evidence points. If the roof has good years left, we fix what is broken and leave the rest alone. For Legacy Park and Brookstone homes, we also flag anything your HOA will care about, such as a replacement ridge vent or shingle that has to match the original.
Heading Off the Next Repair Before Storm Season
Many of the repairs we make in Kennesaw would have been smaller if they had been caught a season earlier. Before the spring storms arrive, it is worth having the gutters and valleys cleared, especially on homes shaded by the big oaks near the battlefield, and having someone check the ridge caps and the sealant around vents and pipe boots. Those are the spots that fail first, and they are quick to fix while the damage is still small.
After any storm that brings hail or strong gusts through northwest Cobb, a walk around the house is worth the time. Shingle pieces in the yard, granules piling up at the downspouts, or a ridge vent that looks uneven from the street are all reasons to have the roof checked. Our inspections are free, and we photograph what we see so you can decide what to do next.
Getting to Kennesaw From Canton
Kennesaw is about 25 minutes from our Canton home base, which puts our crews in 30144 and 30152 quickly after a storm. When a leak is active, we tarp or seal the area to stop further water damage, then come back for the permanent repair once the cause is confirmed.
Every repair comes with photo documentation of what we found and a written workmanship warranty on the repaired area. We use manufacturer-grade materials so the fix works as part of your existing roof. Because we are fully insured, the paperwork holds up if you later file a claim or sell the house.
